We all had childhood dreams of what we would be when we grew up. Mine usually involved horses, ballerinas, writing books, and being an artist. To this day, my life has involved horses in one way or another, I’ve had a career as a journalist, and I’ve always sketched and painted; however, ballet never really made the cut. I just couldn’t do the whole tiptoe thing so I figured it wasn’t for me. Remembering this, I decided create the ballerina of my younger imagination to acknowledge the ambition that while never very strong, gave me a sense of wonder in my early years. It was wonderful to finally bring it into being, and I strongly recommend this as an exercise in recognising the dreams we had to let go.
